What/ When/ How Often:

Community Kitchen Volunteer - Help prepare and serve breakfast or lunch to persons who are homeless or less fortunate than others at the Urban Ministries of Durham's Community Kitchen. Two-hour shifts weekdays between 7:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. are requested. No experience required. Minimum age 15 years old accompanied by an adult.

Gardeners - Put your gardening talents to work by keeping the children's garden and other landscaping beautiful. This is a great way for families to give service together on the weekends! Groups may sign up for one time or for a regular shift bi-weekly or monthly.

Cook at home - Organize your group or family to prepare large casseroles (UM has pans and recipes), and then deliver them to the Kitchen (best time is between 8:30 am & 12:30 pm).

On Your Own - Pantry and Clothing Closet Donations - UM will provide lists of items needed for hygiene kits that you and your kids can shop for and create together. Also needed are non-perishable food items. UM has a list of much needed items.
