When/ How Often:
Community
Kitchen Volunteer - Help prepare and serve breakfast
or lunch to persons who are homeless or less fortunate than
others at the Urban Ministries of Durham's Community Kitchen.
Two-hour shifts weekdays between 7:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.
are requested. No experience required. Minimum age 15 years
old accompanied by an adult.
Gardeners
- Put your gardening talents to work by keeping the
children's garden and other landscaping beautiful. This
is a great way for families to give service together on
the weekends! Groups may sign up for one time or for a regular
shift bi-weekly or monthly.
Cook
at home - Organize your group or family to prepare large
casseroles (UM has pans and recipes), and then deliver them
to the Kitchen (best time is between 8:30 am & 12:30 pm).
On
Your Own - Pantry and Clothing Closet Donations - UM
will provide lists of items needed for hygiene kits that
you and your kids can shop for and create together. Also
needed are non-perishable food items. UM has a list of much
needed items.
