has identified a wide variety and growing number of community
building activities. Some opportunities allow parents and
kids to connect with other families, while others allow for
a more individualized experience.
- For
maximum convenience, there are scheduled opportunities to
which families can "RSVP".
- For
maximum flexibility, there are many opportunities that leave
the details up to the volunteers.
- Some
activities are one-time opportunities - either a special
event or an ongoing activity at a local agency that requires
no long-term commitment.
- Many
activities provide families the opportunity to make a longer
term commitment, affording them the benefits of relationship
building and volunteering.
Currently,
many of the posted opportunities are located in the Raleigh-Durham-Chapel
Hill region of North Carolina. We hope that families in other
areas can get ideas here and reach out within their own local
community to volunteer. Also, there are many "on
your own" ideas that can be accomplished in most
any community.
