Kids Connect is a virtual and actual community of kids, parent, educators and youth leaders. We create and identify opportunities for young people to DO & CARE in their local community and beyond; we provide educational resources to LEARN about what is needed and how to make a difference; and we facilitate venues to SHARE ideas and information, as well as the joy of giving.

At , we believe that one of the greatest gifts we can give our kids is helping them develop the capacity to care about others and the community as a whole. It is important to teach children to reach out, to get involved, to learn about the issues and events that affect their lives. We want to help parents show their children that the world does not revolve around them; the community and world are much bigger than their own backyards. Ultimately we want to help kids understand that it is everyone's responsibility to reach out and help others; to participate in positive, community building activities; and to work toward making the world a better place.

strives to provide a variety of opportunities for kids to learn these critical lessons with their parents. Both through active participation and attentive spectating, kids can "get it". It is never too early to involve kids in activities that benefit the community. Age appropriate volunteer opportunities are available for kids of all ages. As kids get older, their level of involvement and understanding of the activity and the underlying issues grows and develops. We think that encouraging them to participate in service as well as reflecting on the "what" and "why" of what they are doing is critical to helping them become well-rounded, caring people. Getting started can help parents and group leaders facitilate this important piece of the learning process.

As parents, it is our responsibility to be positive role models for our children. One way to do this is is to we involve them in what we are doing. This can be as simple as telling them about the volunteering or work we are involved in - talking with them about why we do the things we do or taking them with us to a meeting, special event or rally. Even when there's not a specific role for them, they can benefit from observation whenever the subject matter/ activity is appropriate.

Lastly, at we belive that it is important to connect families who share a vision for community involvement. We have found that bringing together kids and families maximizes the impact and strengthens the experience for everyone involved It is valuable for parents to share our commitment to community and service with our kids not only because it is the right thing to do but because it will make our children's lives richer and more rewarding.

serves as a conduit for families to engage in community service together. strives to provide the resources parents need to involve their children in community service. By making the process as effortless as possible for families, hopes that individual families and groups will spend their energy serving the community and reaping the benefits that shared service has to offer.

Ultimately, aspires to create a community of caring families who can support and inspire one another and whose collective efforts will have a positive impact on our local and global communities, and in the lives of our children.

was created by Elizabeth Jordan in the fall of 2005. is an idea that evolved after the birth of her son, Jack, Like all parents, she began thinking about what lessons she wanted to teach him, what experiences she wanted to share with him, what core values she wanted to instill in him. With the work and support of local friends and parents, continues to grow and develop.

We hope that you and your family will join us!!!
